Weekend Tours are ON This Weekend!

Alright, Alright, Alright!  Gimmie a huge WOO HOO!  Spring has finally sprung and we are ready for weekend tours starting Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16 from 9am – 5pm.  Not sure what will happen next weekend so if you want to come out and have some tasty fun, this weekend would be the time to do it!

There is no charge for our tour and no advance reservations are required. We run back-to-back tours all day, so come any time and there is sure to be a tour underway.  A small caution – with all the snow melting it’s a bit muddy on the walk back to the sugar house, so be prepared with the right footwear.

Hope to see you this weekend!

I was just reading an article on Weather Bug that mentions your farm and some comments by the owner. Thanks for you concern for the tradition and glad to hear that you have your taps in and have already some sap. Good luck this season.

Sir, I saw pictures of you and Kathy working on taps. Do you put more than one tap per tree? Also, why at night? I have read at least two fiction books in the course of my life, but I don’t remember it occurring at night. It has been a while, too.

Great questions! We put more than one tap in a tree when the tree is large enough to do so. There are very specific guidelines as to how many taps can be in a tree, ranging from 1-4 taps depending on the diameter of the tree. We follow these guidelines to ensure we do not damage any trees we tap. As for tapping at night, there is nothing magical about doing this. We are typically very busy during daytime hours as we work full time jobs and have 4 children so sometimes nighttime is the only time that works for us!

My husband and I traveled about 1.2 miles to visit Turtle Lane Maple Farm for our first visit and tour last weekend. We especially enjoyed meeting you and Kathy. Your tour was great!
